PLURKing around the Internet

Plurk

I was invited by my friend Edward to join this Social Network called Plurk. And I was like, What the hell is that about? Anyways, I said “Well, I got nothing to lose, so what the heck” I signed up on Plurk and this is what I have to say.

Plurk is Great! It’s very different from all the Social networking sites and Micro-Blogging site that I have seen because of its unique features that I really like, but before that what is Plurk?

WHAT IS PLURK?

Plurk

Well according to the site:

Plurk is a site that allows you to showcase the event that make up your life in deliciously digestible chunks. Low in fat, 5 calories per serving, yet chock full of goodness

Yes, Plurk is actually a micro-blog, like the ever popular Twitter, that shows short updates about what you are doing right now or about your thoughts that you want to share.

Also according to the creators of the micro-blog, the etymology or meaning of the word PLURK is:

  • abbreviation of 'people' and 'lurk'
  • portmanteau of 'play' and 'work'
  • acronym of peace, love, unity, respect, and karma

A word with lots of meanings, cool huh! :)

INTERFACE/Features:

Well for the sake of the pictures I’ll use my profile. xD

Plurk TimelineTIMELINE INTERFACE:

The interactive timeline interface shows recent '”Plurks” of your friends and the ones that you follow. The interface updates in real-time. If you manage to click the plurks on your timeline an IM box will appear so you can respond on their plurks and talk about a certain topic.

Plurk_textbox PLURK TEXTBOX:

This is what you use when you want to Plurk about something – a photo, link, video, you name it!. And Plurking is even easier with the use of Qualifiers - the yummy color coded words that you see above which are commonly used by our members to start plurks. They make it easy for you to identify different types of plurks visually. So you can easily tell what someone <feels>, or <thinks>, or <loves> or <was> doing.

Profile

PROFILE:

that’s my profile (hehe). Moving on!

The profile shows your Mutual Friends, Fans, your Profile statistics, and the Karma. Karma is one thing that I like about Plurk because when your Karma Points goes up, you will unlock new features:

Plurk Karma

I think this is a clever way to keep their Plurk users to be active at the site and to gather their friends to join Plurk, and by being active, they are rewarded of new Emoticons and other cool stuffs and they will reach Plurk Nirvana…

As an end to this post, I would like to invite you to join Plurk and be my friend there. This image is something that I made to formally invite you to the Plurk community. Enjoy! :)

Sign Up to Plurk! :)

IT’S YOUR TURN!

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PLURK AND ITS FEATURES? TELL IT IN COMMENTS!

Backlinks are an essential part of optimising your blog for search engines, google looks for relevant topics or subject regarding a specific search. That's where backlinks come in handy, but backlinks will not be effective if you don't link your blog/site with the same topic or 'theme'.

Windows Live SkyDrive - How to get 25GB Free Online Storage

Store 25GB of data with me!

Don't have enough space on your computer to put your beloved images from your summer vacation or your own fail videos of your relatives or maybe that album of your favorite songs? why not store it online?

In search of free online Storage sites I recently stumbled this site from Microsoft about SkyDrive and  It works great! I'm planning to put some of my files on SkyDrive because of its security features and tons of other cool stuff for you to enjoy!

Windows Live SkyDrive Interface - excluding the Jell-O

With WLSD (Windows Live SkyDrive) you can:

  • Store up to 25 gigabytes (GB) of photos and files. The SkyDrive storage meter shows how much storage space you've used.
  • Arrange your files in top-level folders (A folder that appears in the Documents, Favorites, or Photos sections on the Windows Live SkyDrive home page. Also known as a root folder.)  and subfolders  (A folder that you create inside a top-level folder.)  that you create. For more information, see Create a top-level folder and Create a subfolder.
  • Choose permissions  (A setting that lets you limit who can see and download files from your folders.)  for each top-level folder that you create. Keep your photos, files, and favorites in personal folders  (Only you can view or edit files in this top-level folder. You can use personal folders to store private files.)  so only you can access them; in shared folders (Only you and people that you select can view photos and files in this top-level folder. For each person that you allow to access the top-level folder, you can assign the role of reader or editor.)
so you can share them with your Windows Live network, your extended network (The people in your network on Windows Live—your Windows Live Messenger and profile contacts—plus the profile contacts of the people in your network.) , and people on your contact list (A list that contains the name and e-mail address of each of your contacts.) ; or in public folders  (Anyone on the Internet can view photos and files in this top-level folder, but only you can edit the photos and files.)  so that they can be viewed by anyone on the Internet.

HOW TO GET 25GB FREE ONLINE STORAGE!?

well Ok here are some simple steps toget your free 25GB online storage by SkyDrive

  1. First off, obviously, go to the SkyDrive Homepage (opens in a new window). Or you can just google it out for yourself.
  2. Create you Windows Live ID. Signing up is easy! but you should have a valid Email-ad to verify your account.
  1. Once you have created your Windows Live ID and verified your account on your e-mail, it's time to log-in to your account on Windows Live SkyDrive!
  2. That's it, you're done! start uploading.
  3. Comment on LockedUpMind after wards if you got it right.
  4. Thanks!

Conclusion:
The Interface is not bad, 25GB is enough for typical blogger or for someone who wants their data or file be available on the web. The security is awesome and it's user-friendly for those who might be new to web storing or web storage sites. If you're looking for a free 25GB on the web to be added on your online Hard Drive you might want to check this out. Afterall it's 25GB and it's free.

don't forget that lovely comments and suggestions out there!

5 Cool Sites of the Week [3rd wk April]

cool sites

Here are 5 cool sites that I’ve seen lately this week at the ever growing World Wide Web. Please note that the sites below might need some subscriptions from their sites at certain circumstances, and I also make sure that there no malicious content on the sites that I will give.

What is Pentrix? Pentrix is a web site designed to educate people about the art of Pen Spinning. Since early 2000, its predecessor, Pentix, have been helping pen spinners around the world learn and improve their skills. With articles, tutorials, videos, and a tricks database, I hope you'll find everything you need about pen tricks here.

image

Coin manipulation involves performing tricks with coins such as walking a coin across the back of the knuckles or flipping and twirling two coins about each other. This site collects all the coin tricks that I know of and teaches how to do them with a combination of text, images and video. The tricks range from simple ones that can be learnt in minutes such as the Coin Spin or the One Finger Spin to more complex tricks such as the Coin Walk or the Roll Down that take months or years to perfect.

image

The free recyclable personal organizer, PocketMod! It lets you create your own mini organizer in just minutes, and the best part is you can print it for yourself! With many “Widget Pages” (the pages that you would like to show on a specific page) to choose from your organizer will be very unique from the rest!

image

Favicons (favorite icons) are the small images that are associated with a website. They will be displayed on the address bar, on browser tabs, and in the bookmark list.

Getting a favicon has never been easier with favicon.cc! If you don't find one that has already been created and published on favicon.cc under the Creative Commons license, you can get creative yourself. It's really easy. Just try it out!

image Oddee.com attracts over a million visitors reading more than 6 million pages per month. Focused on the odd, bizarre and strange things of our world, its daily articles and sections explore subjects from Science to Advertising and Technology.

There’s the top 5 for this week! tune in again next week for the top 5!

9 Must Have PSP Applications/Plugins

image

PSP Applications always helped PSP users around the world, making their beloved handheld more user-friendly than ever before. Well if you still haven’t decided out of the thousands of Apps out there on the Internet, I have made a list of Applications that you will surely need on your PSP… Here we go!

  1. Netfront Internet Browser (beta)

You know, Sony limits our memory in Internet Browser. So we cannot play big flash games and open big web sites. This mod removes this limitation. And you can use all of the memory that your PSP has. If your PSP is Fat, the HighMemMod uses all of 32 MB RAM. If your PSP is Slim, the HighMemMod uses all of 64 MB RAM!!!
Now the browser loads your pages in very short seconds!
You can play your online flash games fast, but this cool Application is still in Beta so you may experience some bugs and problems when you use it.

  2. FuSa Screenshot

FuSa Screenshot allows you to take a clear screenshot of your PSP screen. Now you can have a screenshot of you favorite game or show to your friends your powerful Lv. 100 character of some kind and rub it in to your friends. Have fun!

  3. Ultimate PSPTubeimage

Ultimate PSPTube, of course, allows you to access videos and watch them straight to your PSP - with full audio people!! how cool!

  4. AdHoc File Transfer

Ever want to have a multiplayer game with your friend but you found out that they don’t have that game? Luckily there’s AdHoc File Transfer to back you up! It lets you transfer ANY FILE on your PSP directory WIRELESSLY, and the best part is… You can game share this application! no need to worry if they don’t have AdHoc File Transfer on their PSP!

  5. Unofficial gPSP – GBA Emulator for PSPimage

Still devoted to GBA? well this is a good APP for you! It lets you to play your favorite GBA games right on to your PSP (I tried it with my PSP with the game KH: chains of memories, and Pokemon Sapphire. it’s really cool!). All you need is ROMs which can be found on the internet.

  6. Power Manager v2.1

A plugin that allows you to lengthen battery life by controlling the amount of power used by the PSP in various ways. You can also unlock the 5th brightness level on the PSP which is the highest possible.

  7. Hold v3.42

When you put your PSP on hold the LCD and backlight will turn off. This is useful for saving battery when listening to music. You can still scroll through the music you're listening too with the PSP in this mode. Together with Power Manager v2.1 You will surely save power and enhance battery life on your PSP.

  8. Bookr

An application that can read PDF and TXT files. So you can easily read your PDF files on your PSP. Just like me when I have walkthroughs on a particular game and I use my computer to read it (alright i SELDOM read walkthroughs only when i’m stuck on a game). Using this application i can now read it with the use of my PSP and save Electricity! cool huh?

  9. Custon Firmware 5.00 m33-6

Well ok this is not actually an Application. but it’s now available to download!
Well that’s my top 9 list! Leave some comments below or Suggestions on the SUGGESTION BOX at the right. If you want I’ll put some download links of these APPS, just comment me for that particular APP/s that you want and i’ll give you the link ASAP!

    Removal_DupKiller
    TIP:
    1. When you’re removing files on DupKIller the files will be moved to the recycle bin by default, to make it easier and quicker, choose Permanently delete files.
    2. Another tip, also about deleting, is un-checking the Confirmations checkboxes – because when you delete your files you will be asked if you really want to delete your files (well of course yeah!) which is really annoying, especially if you want to deleted the files that you have selected all at once. UN-CHECKING the confirmations fixes that problem.

    Stumbled much?

image Stumbling – the way of discovering things you like on the web. With so many websites out there waiting to be seen, this simply genius bookmarking site has been one ways to really discover your web. But have you noticed how long you’ve been hitting that stumble button…

Watery eyes. Smelly armpits. Muscle cramped body. Its not Football players everyone, its something we call as STUMBLE SICKNESS… the notorious BUTTON has been invading the internet ever since it was created, stumble here, stumble there It goes on and on sucking every second of your life and its only just the beginning…

    image

True. Its really addictive since I started downloading the toolbar on my FF3 and i never stopped stumbling even as I’m writing this post on my blog I still leave two of my tabs on Firefox to be used for stumbling. The simple reason is that with the use of Stumbleupon I found many cool sites I’ve never thought existed on the web just like the Web Powder Game created by the very creative Dan Ball which me and my friends became a huge fan when I accidentally Stumbled on it very cool stuff, yeah!. There are clearly an endless possibilities you can find on the net with the use of Stumbleupon.com and the ever popular “Stumble!” button. But please, just a word of advice… I beg you to go outside and give your friends a good talk, because the world misses you today […yeah right… xD] and I think its your belly that’s rumbling right now, so please don’t abuse the BUTTON. Because he will stumble you back PERMANENTLY!… I think i’ll close my Firefox now… nah!! xD

How to Recover your files with DiskDigger

It’s a really pain in the neck when your most precious and life-changing “Document” about work, a “picture” of you an your crush, or your about-to-finish one hour length “video” ACCIDENTALLY been deleted by you or someone invading your privacy. But there is a way to bring them back to your hands and say goodbye to worries with DISK DIGGER!

Disk Digger can recover your most valuable files from any type of media (as long as your computer can read it). USB FLASH DRIVES, MEMORY CARDS,  and of course your HARD DRIVE – wherever your files may be Disk Digger will try to find it and restore is with ease.

    Disk_digger
    Features:
    • DiskDigger scans for many different types of files, including photos, videos, music files, and documents, and displays what it finds as it scans in real time.
    • You can preview most of the files found by DiskDigger without having to save them to a different location first. More than that, you can preview files while DiskDigger continues scanning!
    • DiskDigger scans any type of media that is readable by your computer, including USB flash drives, memory cards (SD, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, etc), and your hard drive(s). Also, it is completely independent of the type of file system that’s present in your media. The program bypasses the file system and reads the raw data chunks (sectors) to recover data.
    • DiskDigger can even recover fragments of some files, like partially overwritten photos or other images.
    • DiskDigger does everything in memory, meaning that it never writes any temporary files to your disk or other media (unless you choose to save files that it recovers).
    • Since DiskDigger is a completely self-contained program, it leaves no trace on the computer where it is run. It does not save any settings to the registry. There is nothing to “install,” and the entire program is a single executable file.

DiskDigger brute-forces its way through your media, scanning it thoroughly for any trace of files that can be recovered. I don’t mean “brute-force” in any malicious way; this simply refers to the fact that DiskDigger reads every single sector of data, and scans it for traces of various file types. In this sense, DiskDigger is advantageous over an undelete utility because DiskDigger goes underneath the file system.

So why not download disk digger now and try it out for yourself! Click on the Image below to download

Download DiskDigger <<<(607 Kb) (zip file)

Or your can download on their site http://dmitrybrant.com/diskdigger

Open Office – the open source MS office

why_home Open Office.org 3 – is the leading open source software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics and more.

Powered by JAVA and being used by many Students and Professionals, OpenOffice.org or “OoO” (“i know, weird acronym huh?! xD") is the result of over twenty years' software engineering. Designed from the start just as a single piece of software, it has a consistency other products cannot match. A completely open development process means that anyone can report bugs, request new features, or enhance the software (that’s the good side of an open source software). It does everything you want your office software to do, the way you want it to.

OpenOffice.org 3 is easy to learn, and if you're already using another office software package, you'll take to it straight away, especially when your using MS Office. Their world-wide native-language community means that it is probably available and supported in your own language. And if you already have files from another office package - It will probably read them with no difficulty at all!

Best of all, OpenOffice.org 3 can be downloaded and used entirely free of any license fees. It is released under the LGPL license. This means you may use it for any purpose - domestic, commercial, educational, public administration. You may install it on as many computers as you like. You may make copies and give them away to family, friends, students, employees - anyone you like. to download go to their site at http://openoffice.org or click at the image above to start downloading your own Openoffice.org 3.
